The small historic centre of Lucca, surrounded by beautiful city walls, has a special charm that you won't find anywhere else.
Lucca is a beautiful city of art, rich in ancient palaces, numerous churches, squares and fascinating sights: Piazza San Michele, Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the Cathedral of San Martino, the Guinigi Tower and Via Fillungo, the city's main shopping street, all of which are definitely worth a visit. In the narrow streets you can discover old shops, characteristic boutiques, typical trattorias and excellent restaurants.
The numerous events that revolve around the city make it an ideal destination all year round. To name but a few: ‘Lucca Comics and Games’ for comic book lovers, the opera season in October-November, the concerts of religious and classical music in the city's churches from April to June, the ‘Settembre Lucchese’ with numerous cultural and folkloristic events, the summer festival in July and August as well as the many open-air markets and the important antiques market that takes place every third weekend of the month in the streets and squares of the historic centre.
From Lucca you can take day trips to Tuscany's most important cities of art such as Florence, Pisa and Siena, visit characteristic medieval villages in the countryside such as Montecarlo, go to the sea on the Versilia coast or to Livorno, Castiglioncello and the Cinque Terre or organise cycling and hiking tours after visiting the Ville Lucchesi, which are located within 6 km of the town.

We had a wonderful time at Ai Cantici. The apartment is modern, tasteful, and well-equipped. The location is perfect, just outside Lucca's lovely historic center. I'd like to highlight in particular the Abitare team: Flavia, Chiara, and their colleagues are fantastic. Excellent customer service and communication. Very organized and very kind as well. As someone who seldom writes reviews, I felt it important to highlight what a tremendous time my partner
and I had during our stay in this exceptionally well-located apartment in the centre of Lucca; a stone’s throw
away from the well-known Renaissance city walls, where we indulged in morning runs, followed by a short
walk to a bakery for a coffee and croissant. The apartment itself is modernly furnished, with interior
decorations and colours that will inspire my first home one day, a high-quality mattress and plenty of natural
sunlight. I was also pleasantly surprised by the price point, given the presence of a study — well-equipped —
and quiet enough for me to do some light work when I needed to. Lastly, the services were impeccable from
start to finish: from entering the apartment to fielding our questions about how to triage our tourist activities,
the staff were both responsive and thoughtful with their responses. I would recommend this apartment to
solo travellers, couples, business travellers or even small families who are looking for a balance of beautiful
aesthetics and convenience!
